Are you experiencing…
A loss of identity?
Trauma from your relationships or childhood?
Trouble at school or peer relationships?
Struggle in your family dynamics?
Do you feel stuck but desire to do the work to achieve change? I can help you make sustainable daily change, challenging your old beliefs and understanding how the past impacts you today. I help adults overcome trauma, improve communication and family or marriage dynamics, and gain confidence in their unique identity.
When working with younger clients, I create a therapeutic environment that promotes growth by utilizing tools and techniques that are appropriate for their developmental stage, helping them navigate the issues and situations they encounter in their lives. I help teens, as they manage friend and family dynamics, establish a strong sense of who they were created to be. I walk with young kids as they adjust to changes in family dynamics after divorce or working through school issues.
MY BACKGROUND AND APPROACH
I earned my Master of Science degree in Community Agency Counseling and my Education Specialist Degree in School Counseling, from The University of Memphis. After graduate school, I worked as a Director of a grant-funded program in Tennessee, that provided free counseling services to children and families who have been involved with the Department of Children's Services. In 2001, I became a Professional School Counselor and have worked in school settings in Tennessee, Texas, and Oklahoma. I also hold a PreK-12 School Counseling certificate and have worked as a school counselor for 22 years.
Like most therapists, I use a variety of modalities to meet each client’s needs including CBT, Person-Centered, Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and integrate aspects of play therapy in my work with kids. I am looking forward to training this year in EMDR and DBT.
After therapy with me, my clients are proud of themselves for trying new ways of thinking, responding, or interacting to get a better outcome. My clients tell me that others around them can see the difference in their coping and reduced stress.

In Oklahoma, Candidate for Licensure means that I have completed all my education and have passed all the testing required by the Board of Behavioral Health. I describe this similar to a resident in the medical field. All licensed professional therapists in the state of Oklahoma are required to gain 3000 hours of supervised experience before they are able to be considered licensed. I currently meet weekly with a licensed and Board approved supervisor to review my caseload.

As a candidate for licensure I do not file with insurance. My cash pay rate is $125 per session. I have some reserved spots for sliding scale fees for clients who may need it due to financial hardship.

A session with me looks like offering you consistent support, where you feel valued and accepted. I want you to feel comfortable sharing all areas of life where you are struggling knowing that I am here to walk beside you without judgment as you navigate life's struggles. I want you to feel empowered to make changes in your life. Witnessing a client's progress and growth is a very rewarding experience.

After taking my first psychology class in college, I found myself very interested in learning more about how our life experiences affect our mental health. I wanted to learn ways to help support children through adulthood. I wanted to make a difference by choosing a profession that would be not only meaningful work but also work that can make a difference in people's lives. My experience in both school settings and counseling agency settings has shown me that when clients are given support through life struggles they are more likely to move through obstacles with more success than times when they are trying to do it all alone.
It’s your turn to get the help you deserve.
