Have you ever felt…

Oppressed, worthless, or devalued?

Powerless to find your voice?

Confused about your purpose and where you’re going in life?

Desire to feel strong with boundaries, in relationships, at processing hard emotions?

Are you tired of the unhealthy patterns in your life and ready to do the work? Are you searching to find your true identity, value, and voice? Are you ready to feel whole, healthy and strong? I am a relational and integrative therapist with lots of life experience allowing me to empathize with you wherever you are in life and bring a unique perspective due to many years in the medical field.

I personalize treatment specific to your values and needs. It is my desire as a Christian counselor to see clients holistically, encourage their self-awareness, and gently promote personal growth. I value the individual beliefs of each of my clients, integrating faith into treatment as much as you desire. I hold to the truth that “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalm 34:18 NLT.

MY BACKGROUND AND APPROACH

I completed my Master of Science degree at Mid-America Christian University. I have thirty years of experience in occupational therapy serving adults of all ages with a variety of medical conditions in multiple settings. I have been married for over thirty years to my college sweetheart and am a mother to three adult children. I understand women’s issues and adjustments that surface throughout life.

While I adjust my style to fit the needs of each client, I mostly lean into my training in Internal Family Systems or IFS, Relational, Person-Centered, CBT, and Psychodynamic theories of therapy through a Christian Biblical slant.

After therapy with me, my clients describe feeling freedom, being in control of themselves, and being grateful to experience feelings of peace and calm. My clients appreciate the perspective I’ve shared, often leading them to an “ah-ha” moment necessary for their long-term change.

Therapy with me is

  • Safe

Aiming to create an environment where you feel secure, understood, and free to express yourself without fear of judgment or repercussion.

  • Exploratory

Focusing on improving your ability to understand yourself and the origins of the issues you face in order to live a more rewarding life and have healthier relationships.

  • Client-Centered

More non-directive, grounded in the idea that you are inherently motivated toward achieving positive functioning for your life.

We all want to feel safe and supported in therapy and we also want to see change. I am experienced in working with clients to see the change they desire in their lives in a variety of issues. I focus my practice on working with older teens and adults.

FAQs

  • In Oklahoma, Candidate for Licensure means that I have completed all my education and have passed all the testing required by the Board of Behavioral Health. I describe this similar to a resident in the medical field. All licensed professional therapists in the state of Oklahoma are required to gain 3000 hours of supervised experience before they are able to be considered licensed. I currently meet weekly with a licensed and Board approved supervisor to review my caseload.

  • As a candidate for licensure I do not file with insurance. My cash pay rate is $125 per session. I have some reserved spots for sliding scale fees for clients who may need it due to financial hardship.

  • My hope is that each person who sits in a session with me will feel “seen, soothed, safe, and secure” as Curt Thompson has mentioned in his books regarding the needs we all have for human connection. I enjoy connecting with those I encounter and truly value each person who walks through the door.

  • As a relatively new empty-nester and with many years in the medical field, I was left searching for purpose and meaning. Being a “helper” gives me great fulfillment and helping others with their emotional, relational, mental, and spiritual struggles made perfect sense. I see being a counselor as a high calling, a gift, and a responsibility to not be taken lightly.

It’s your turn to get the help you deserve.
