RELATIONSHIP THERAPY
Reconnect with your partner. Restore Intimacy.
Relationships are one of the best & hardest parts of life.
You may feel isolated and disconnected in your relationships. Do you start to fear that you’ll never understand or even be understood by your partner? It can even be difficult to open up and share with any depth with your partner. All of these feelings can lead to frustrations and resentment in our relationships.
Significant conflicts can leave us feeling overwhelmed with big feelings. Sometimes we can get stuck trying to resolve the same issue over and over again. This can create constant tension between you and your partner, and often, the things you try have no effect or even seem to make things worse. This can leave you feeling defeated and even consider leaving the relationship altogether.
We can help with:
Restoring intimacy in your relationship - both sexual and emotional intimacy
Improving communication to allow for quick repair after conflict
Restoring trust after betrayal or infidelity
Premarital counseling
Address issues around mismatched sexual desire
Too often, when our relationships don’t operate the way we expect them to, our response is to try and control them. We try to control our partner, the situation, and even the outcome. Therapy can help you to understand and work with what you can control, and let go of the things you cannot. Once you begin to understand your role in the relationship, you can take ownership of your part, allowing you to operate from a place of integrity and safety instead of fear and necessity. When both you and your partner approach therapy in this way, imagine the connection that will be better than before.
how WE can help
Addressing all aspects of relationship to restore intimacy deeper than ever before.
Here at Cairn Wellness Center, our therapists will consider each facet of your relationship’s unique needs and circumstances. Their goal will be to understand your relationship as a whole and help identify the cycle where the problem exists.
Couples therapy that is directed at building healthy relationships can be life-changing. It can help one learn who they are to their partner, teach us how to express our needs, wants, and desires without feeling shame, and even improve a couple’s sexual relationship. Learning to trust one another, set boundaries, and be vulnerable with one another are important parts of participating in a healthy relationship.
At Cairn Wellness Center, we also have therapists trained specifically for pre-marital counseling. Utilizing either the SYMBIS or Prepare & Enrich assessments, therapists guide couples excited about marriage to be prepared to anticipate the possible bumps in the road ahead. CWC therapists will help guide couples in communication, conflict resolution, and expectations around sex, money, and parenting.
If you are experiencing physical pain during sex, mismatched sexual desire in your relationship, physical or emotional issues limiting your sexual intimacy, or issues around cultural, religious, and societal views of sex, we also have therapists at CWC who are trained to work with couples or individuals who are experiencing issues with sex. Therapists will work to improve communication about sex between the couple, address any inaccurate education, and explore each member of the couple’s own needs, desires, and values around sex.

Common questions about therapy for relationships
-
Yes, as you work with a therapist to determine how your experiences, emotions, behaviors, and values may be impacting your relationship, you can make changes that ultimately have an impact on your relationship.
-
Conjoint marital therapy is an effective way to do couples therapy. In conjoint therapy, each partner has an individual therapist they meet with every other week. This time in individual is focused on the marriage, often exploring each partner’s needs, values, and experiences allowing clarity and ownership for each partner. Then on the opposite weeks, all 4 (both partners and their therapists) come together to explore how the understanding from the individual sessions, can be used to repair conflict, improve communication, clarify, and restore connection, while each partner feels safe and supported because their individual therapist is a part.
