Have you ever asked yourself…

Am I the problem in this relationship?

Why am I so overwhelmed all the time?

Why am I not good enough for my partner?

How do I not let my emotions control my life?

Let me help you look closer into your thoughts about yourself, to challenge those beliefs, and to increase your confidence in your own self-worth. I want to help you to first identify your emotions and then figure out how to work through them, accepting them as a part of life but not living a life ruled by anxiety, OCD, or grief. I help my clients become comfortable with themselves and their own ability to handle what life has in store for them. I help clients build effective communication skills, learn to identify and manage a variety of emotions that don’t complicate their everyday lives, and explore and process relationships and past trauma.

I believe that each trail taken is unique and is an opportunity for growth and learning. My areas of practice include anxiety, depression, OCD, adjustment disorders, stress, and interpersonal relationships. I will create safety with you by emphasizing the importance of our client-therapist relationship and treating you with dignity, grace, and genuineness. I am passionate that through learning about ourselves and our differences, we can move forward on the path taken.

MY BACKGROUND AND APPROACH

I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. One of my favorite quotes is “Not all who wander are lost” - J.R.R. Tolkien. Life can sometimes feel aimless, and we may feel like we are lost in a huge forest of difficulty. Sometimes having a person to help navigate through difficulties can create direction.

After therapy with me, my clients describe feeling freedom, being in control of themselves, and being grateful to experience feelings of peace and calm. They feel supported as they move through big life changes and feel more empowered to be true to themselves and in their relationships.

Therapy with me is

  • Authentic

Real, genuine, open, integrated, and authentic during our interactions together.

  • Challenging

I will gently call out inconsistencies or discrepancies in your thoughts or behaviors to encourage self-reflection and growth. I also suggest alternative perspectives to move the therapeutic process forward.

  • Integrative

Individualized, holistic approach to therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought depending on your unique needs.

We all want to feel safe and supported in therapy and we also want to see change. I am experienced working with clients to see the change they desire in their lives in a variety of issues. I focus my practice on working with teens and adults.

FAQs

  • In Oklahoma, Candidate for Licensure means that I have completed all my education and have passed all the testing required by the Board of Behavioral Health. I describe this similar to a resident in the medical field. All licensed professional therapists in the state of Oklahoma are required to gain 3000 hours of supervised experience before they are able to be considered licensed. I currently meet weekly with a licensed and Board approved supervisor to review my caseload.

  • As a candidate for licensure I do not file with insurance. My cash pay rate is $125 per session. I have some reserved spots for sliding scale fees for clients who may need it due to financial hardship.

  • A session with me is Semi-Structured. Usually, we talk about any new events or things occurring over the week, and depending on what happens we may explore that. I also might pull from different techniques and knowledge that I have to help cope with any stressors that are occurring. My main goal is to work alongside you and build the coping mechanisms that you need to be healthy and comfortable with yourself. This can come in the form of coping skills or challenging patterns of problematic behavior. Lastly, I usually ask for feedback at the end of session to determine what’s working well for you or if there’s something that you’d like to work on that we haven’t been able to yet. This allows us to maintain course to your goal.

  • I have wanted to be a therapist since I was about 16-17. I took a psychology class in high school and was instantly hooked. The human mind is fascinating and there’s always something new to learn! I’ve also done my own work in therapy and have felt so much freedom and hope that others can experience that same freedom as well.

It’s your turn to get the help you deserve.
